Dr. Brian Silvis
Dr. Brian is the Medical Director of Pets in Harmony Veterinary Hospital, Allegheny North Veterinary Hospital (Perrysville), Tender Touch Veterinary Hospital (Wexford). He primarily sees patients here in Harmony, but works at all three hospitals and provides house call services for our patients throughout the North Hills.
Dr. Brian completed his B.S. in Biology at Westminster College, before earning his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ohio State University in 1999. He worked in Erie, PA after graduation and helped found an emergency clinic before moving to Pittsburgh.
Dr. Brian's family includes his wife, Kate (a professor at LaRoche College) and two beautiful children, Phillip and Clara. He enjoys spending time with his family, attending baseball games, and playing video games.
The Silvis family shares their home with two Pugs: Floyd and Forest, and two cats: Tigger and a Siamese rescue named Lilly.
Dr. Daniel Brugos
Dr. Brugos joined the Pets in Harmony team in early 2018. He also regularly sees patients at our sister hospital in Wexford. A 2012 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Brugos has special interests in small animal internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and veterinary dentistry. A lifelong love for animals led him to dedicate his career to keeping pets healthy and happy.
After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Brugos returned home to Pittsburgh, where he now resides in New Brighton with his wife Andrea, their dog Opie, and two cats: Zelda and Motorboat. His free time is spent outdoors whenever possible: hiking, biking, fishing, golfing, and working on home improvements.
Dr. Chrissy MullikEn
Dr. Mulliken joined the Pets in Harmony family in November of 2017. Her compassionate nature and genuine interest in the well-being of our patients make her a perfect fit for our team! She has a particular interest in geriatric feline care and shelter medicine.
When she’s not at Pets in Harmony or Tender Touch, Dr. Mulliken continues to care for pets around the region, offering her services at a low-cost spay/neuter clinic in Franklin and a veterinary clinic local to her home in the South Hills of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Mulliken shares her home with her husband Robert, two dogs: Georgie and Seamus, and five cats: Lee, Doc, Percy, Polly, and Bratty. When not working or taking care of her almost 90 year old father, she enjoys traveling, hiking, cheering on the Pittsburgh Penguins and Ohio State Buckeyes, wine tasting, and eating or cooking good food.
Licensed Veterinary Technician/Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner
Meredith has been in the veterinary field since 1988, and has worked in a variety of practices, including small animal care, exotics, emergency medicine, and in specialty clinics in the surgery and neurology departments. A veteran Licensed Veterinary Technician at our sister hospital, Allegheny North, she played an integral role in launching Pets in Harmony and our Rehabilitation Center.
Passionate about veterinary medicine, Meredith is always striving to continue her education and broaden her knowledge and skills. In December 2017, she completed the University of Tennessee's program to earn her designation as a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP). She is currently pursuing her pain management (CVPM) certification and has recently began studies to become a Canine Fitness Trainer.
Meredith has a special interest in challenging and complex cases and enjoys learning about advancements in animal medicine. She loves the laid-back approach at Pets in Harmony and takes the time to get to know our clients and their pets.
In her free time, she is very active with her dogs, competing in conformation, agility, rally, and lure coursing. She currently serves on the board of directors for the Pharaoh Hound Club of America. She has 4 Pharaoh Hounds named Peaches, Magie, Kattan, and Roseanna. She also has a Whippet named Ruslan, a Bulldog named Tulip, a mixed breed named Bull Durham, and Brit the Pumi. Her Blue-Fronted Amazon bird is named Damien and is 27 years old.
Certified Veterinary Technician/Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner
Ashley is living out her dream of being a vet tech and CCRP in the community that she has fallen in love with and calls her home. When building the Pets in Harmony team, we were looking for enthusiastic technicians with a special interest in veterinary rehabilitation. We found Ashley, and couldn't pass her up! In January 2017, we brought her into our veterinary family at Tender Touch Veterinary Hospital, our sister clinic in Wexford, and she helped launch Pets in Harmony just months later.
A graduate of the Vet Tech Institute of Pittsburgh and a Certified Veterinary Technician, Ashley has a special interest in older, arthritic pets, and wants to do everything she can to enhance their quality of life. To help the patients under her care as much as possible, she continued her education through the University of Tennessee to become a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP).
Ashley has several pets at home: Lux (4-year-old Australian Shepherd), Fat Cat (12-year-old Domestic Shorthair and Demander-of-Belly-Rubs), Benji (9-year-old Terrier Mix) and Quanta (6-year-old Domestic Shorthair) were both adopted from school when she was a student at VTI, and Berlioz (3-year-old RagaMuffin) came home with her from work after his owner couldn't keep him.
When she's not at the hospital, you can find Ashley in and around Zelienople with her husband Ethan, hiking in the woods or disc golfing. She's a foodie at heart and loves to try different restaurants and then work it off at her favorite gym before going home to snuggle with her cats.
Mary Jo attended the Median School of Allied Health Careers (now known as the Vet Tech Institute of Pittsburgh) and has been in the veterinary field since 1991. After working at Avalon Vet with Dr. Moore for 23 years, she joined the Allegheny North team at our sister hospital in Pittsburgh in 2014 before helping to open Pets in Harmony in 2017.
She plays an important role in our hospital providing client education and being a patient presence that offers concern and compassion to clients and their furry kids. Her favorite aspects of working in veterinary medicine are accompanying Dr. Silvis on house calls and watching puppies and kittens grow into their senior years.
Mary Jo enjoys spending time with her husband, walking and playing with their puppy Nero (a rescued Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix - see his bio below!), snuggling with Smurf (their 13-year-old black & white domestic shorthair cat), and going to the movies with her younger brother with special needs.
Certified Veterinary Technician
Trisha is a 2012 graduate of the Vet Tech Institute. She has been part of our family since 2017, working as a Certified Veterinary Technician both here at Pets in Harmony as well as at our sister hospital, Tender Touch Veterinary Hospital in Wexford. In addition to dogs and cats, she has extensive experience with pets of all kinds, including exotics and equine care. Trisha is driven by the desire to help pets during their time of need, and frequently assists in surgery and exam rooms.
She's an avid equestrian that grew up on a horse farm (what started as 7 horses turned into 35!) and developed a passion for barrel racing at an early age. Trisha began training her own green horses at just 13 years old. These days she enjoys trail rides & barrel races with her buckskin Quarter Horse mare, Alero (who despises early mornings but LOVES treats).
With so many horses, there were many visits from the vet through Trisha's childhood; that was the spark that lit her pursuit of veterinary medicine. She loves her job and knowing that at the end of each day, she's been able to help our patients through compassionate care, respect, and by treating every pet as if it were her own.
Trisha lives in Harmony, PA with her boyfriend Adam. In addition to Alero, she also has two cats: Sky, who loves to hide in plastic bags, and Precious, who runs up trees as high as she possibly can to show off her skills!
Client Service Representative/Veterinary Assistant
Sharon joined the Pets in Harmony family at the Pet Salon before transferring to the veterinary hospital as a Client Service Representative/Veterinary Assistant.
After three years as a bather/grooming assistant/receptionist at Bradford Hills Pet Salon, Sharon decided that she enjoyed her experience so much that she wanted to pursue a career as a groomer.
In 2008, she joined Petco's Grooming Training Program, earning her certification the following year. Sharon returned to Bradford Hills, working her way up the ranks to become Head Groomer from 2010 to the end of 2016. She also provided grooming services for The Green Barn in 2013, helping to get the new business up and running.
Sharon and her boyfriend Chris have been together since 2006. They share two sons, Braxton (10) and Brady (5). Their family also includes a 10-year-old Border Collie Mix named Vito, and two cats: 1-year-old Bubbles and 7-year-old Dot.
Always seeking adventure, Sharon and her family enjoy most any outdoor activity, including biking, camping, hiking, swimming, and horseback riding.
Chief Morale Officer/Front Desk Greeter
The newest addition to Mary Jo's family, Nero has been welcoming clients and pets at the front desk since he was just 8 weeks old. Despite having no customer service experience before joining Pets in Harmony, he has a natural talent for spreading joy and smiles, and always comes to work well-dressed.
Nero has a very calm demeanor in the office, but is full of energy at home. He loves chewing on his toys on the bed, dropping them, and barking until his mom or dad pick them up and give it back. He also enjoys chasing and playing with his older brother, Smurf the cat.
